It’s already September. This means fall is right around the corner and winter is coming. Luckily for us, we don’t have to experience those bitter cold temperatures that most of the country has to endure. We can normally keep our AC running well into the new year. That being said, you want to make sure that it is functioning properly. One of the main issues that are found with air conditioners is having a low level of refrigerant. But how do you know that this is an issue that your cooling system is facing?
- Your cooling system is blowing warm air – The purpose of refrigerant, also referred to as Freon, is to absorb the heat from the air that is being blown through your vents. If your AC is lacking Freon, there’s nowhere for the heat to go. And if the heat is still in the air, through vent it goes into your home making it more difficult to cool.
- Your electricity bill is higher than normal – When the level of refrigerant is low, your AC has to work harder and longer to cool your home. The longer your system is working, the more energy is being burned. The more energy being burned, more money it will cost you.
- You’re hearing strange noises – Those hissing and bubbling noises that you’re hearing is the sound of refrigerant escaping from the refrigerant line, which shouldn’t be happening.
